he eight editions of Hero Indian Super League is going to start on the 19th of November 2021. So, FC Goa will play their first match of Hero ISL 2021-22 against the ISL champions Mumbai City FC in PJN Stadium at Goa. The game will play on the 22nd of November 2021. In the previous season, the Gaurs has finished in the fourth spot on the points table after losing their semifinals against the current champions Mumbai City FC.
While they qualify for the AFC Championship after the ISL 2020-21 playoffs. In the new season of Hero ISL, the Juan Fernando side will be targeting to win the trophy or league winner shield. Therefore for the upcoming season, FC Goa has retained their four Foreign players and brought a new foreign contingent.
1. Ivan Gonzalez
The Gaurs has retained their one of the best foreign central defender Ivan Gonzalez for another season. The 31-year-old Spanish defender has made a great impact in his just one Hero ISL season with his defensive skills. Gonzalez has won two Hero of the Match award with Goa Fc. But unfortunately, Gonzalez couldn’t win the Hero ISL trophy as the gaurs lose in the semi-finals against Mumbai City FC in the penalty shoot out.
Therefore, the former Deportivo B defender has played with some big clubs like Deportivo B, Cultural Leonesa and Real Madrid C in his career. However, in his first season of ISL 2020-21, he made 19 appearances with 72 clearances, 57 tackles, 30 blocks and 19 interceptions for the club. Moreover, Gonzalez joins the two time Indian Super League runner ups and winner of the Indian Super Cup in 2020-21 from Cultural Leonessa.
2. Jorge Ortiz
The Spanish winger Jorge Ortiz extended his contract with the FC Goa for the new season of Hero ISL. Ortiz is one of the best players for gaurs in the previous season. As in the just first season, he put a great impact on the Indian Super League with his brilliant performance. The 29-year-old Spanish can swiss from one flank to another as he can operate from both the side. So, Like his other teammate, Ivan Gonzalez he also has a good playing background.
As Ortiz played with the big clubs like Atletico Madrid B, Cultural Leonesa, Alcorcon and Atletico Baleares before joining FC Goa. However, he is a regular performer for the gaurs after scoring goals in ISL 2020-21 both in League and semi-final matches. He also scores for FC Goa in AFC Championship against Al-Rayyan SC. Moreover, Ortiz has played a total of 21 matches and scored 6 goals for FC Goa in the previous season.
3. Edu Bedia
One of the best and most experienced players for FC Goa Edu Bedia again extended his contract with the club. Edu Bedia is with FC Goa for the last 4 years and is captain of the team. So after completing his 4 seasons with Gaurs now he will play his fifth season. The 32 years old Spanish footballer is the most compact full midfielder in the Hero ISL since his arrival to Indian Super League.
Edu Bedia also spends his early career in some well known big clubs like Barcelona, Racing, Real Zaragoza and Hercules. He helps the club to reach the Hero Indian Super League final on two occasions. But unfortunately couldn’t win the title on two occasions. Therefore, in the last season, he made 20 appearances for FC Goa. Moreover, in the four-season, he played around 71 matches and scored 9 goals for the club.
4. Alberto Noguera
The 32 years old Spanish midfielder after his first season with Goa. He again extended his contract with the club for another Hero ISL season. Noguera was brought by FC Goa in the last season from Numancia. In the previous season with Gaurs, he shows an impressive performance with his quick feet, ability to deliver through balls that help in the attack. And also can operate as a central midfielder apart from attacking midfield.
Therefore, in the upcoming season of Hero ISL 2021-22, Noguera can provide reliability to Gaurs midfield by combing with Ortiz, Bedia and Gonzalez at attack. In the last season, he played around 20 matches and score one goal for the club. Moreover, he also has a good background like other players on the list. Noguera plays for Atletico Madrid in (A, B and C), Rato Vallecano B, Blackpool, Racing Santander and a few mores in his career.
5. Dylan Fox
The new foreign signing for FC Goa is the Australian centre back Dylan Fox. While Gaurs brought the 27-year-old centre back from NorthEast United FC in the summer transfer window. In the last season, he shows a brilliant performance with NorthEast United in their defensive line. So, Fox made 21 appearances for the Highlanders in his first Hero ISL season.
Where he made 95 clearances, 15 tackles, 18 blocks and 19 interceptions in his defensive duties. Due to his great defensive skills, ability to build games from the back and passing long balls by finding his teammates in forward. The Gaurs sign him for ISL 2021. Therefore, after paying in Khalid Jamil side now he will be joining the Juan Ferrando side.
