The women’s Premier League (WPL) is in front of the door now. The first season of this tournament has started today, Saturday. The first match is scheduled between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Giants (GG) at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Mumbai Indians franchise is the second-most expensive franchise in Mi WPL 2023. They are the second one to spend the maximum on players at auction, which happened last month. Their total value to put up in the league was INR 12 crore there.

Strong Coaching Staff of MI

The team is led by a women’s coaching staff. Former England captain Charlotte Edwards is the head coach, and former Indian all-rounder Devika Palshikar is the batting coach of this Ambani-owned team. Former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami is the bowling coach and as well as a mentor of them. She is a player to serve her country for over a decade.,
Indian women’s team’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur is their captain. She said that this league will help many players to get exposure and experience. “We will get to see a lot of young girls coming from this tournament. This is why we wanted this competition to start. It is going to take women’s cricket to the next level. Going forward, I think the WPL will help create a good team for Indian cricket.” The captain signed for INR 1.80 crore.
They have a total of eight matches in their bag. First with Gujarat Giants and the last match with Royal Challengers Bangalore. There is a total of five teams in this tournament. every team will face each other at least one team. Then there will be a play-off match, and then on 26th March finale of Mi WPL 2023 will be played.

The squad of Mumbai Indians is- Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Dhara Gujjar, Amanjot Kaur, Amelia Kerr, Chloe Tryon, Humaira Kazi, Hayley Matthews, Heather Graham, Issy Wong, Jintimani Kalita, Pooja Vastrakar, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Neelam Bisht, Priyanka Bala, Yastika Bhatia, Saika Ishaque, and Sonam Mukesh Yadav.
The costliest player in this team is English cricketer Nat Sciver, the first cricketer for England to take a hat-trick in a Women’s Twenty20 International match. Then come Pooja Vastrakar with 1.9 crores, captain Harmanpreet Kaur with 1.8 crores, Yastika Bhatia with 1.5 crores, and Amelia Kerr with 1 crore. Players signing in Lakhs are- Amanjot Kaur with 50 lakhs, Hayley Mathews with 40 lakhs, Heather Graham, Chloe Tryon, and Isabelle Wong with 30 lacks each, and Priyanka Bala with 20 lakhs. Dhara Gujjar, Saika Ishaque, Humairaa Kaazi, Sonam Yadav, Jintimani Kalita, and Neelam Bisht is in the team with 10 lacks each.
