After a long gap of 9 days, Border Gavaskar Trophy is all set to continue with the India-Australia test series. Their third series is going to start tomorrow, that is 1st March, Wednesday at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. Australia is again finding difficulties to tackle their old foe ‘spin’. India has proven itself as a strong dominant host by leading the series 2-0.
Ganguly’s remarkable comment and Clarke’s response
Former BCCI President Border Gavaskar Trophy Sourav Ganguly has done remarkable comments on Aussie getting pressure from India’s 2-0. He told PTI that, he thought now we compare with Australia’s past squad and their strength. And it is totally wrong to do so as Matthew Hayden, Justin Langer, Ricky Ponting, Steve, and Mark Waugh, and (Adam) Gilchrist are missing from the squad.
Reacting to the former Indian captain’s this comment, Michael Clarke said that he wished the Aussies do a great comeback. Though he himself finds it quite difficult for the team. Australia’s 2015 World Cup-winning captain Clarke replied, “I hope Australia can bounce back. If they don’t it will be hugely frustrating for every Australian cricket fan. At the same time, I understand why Sourav has predicted 4-0.”

changes in Aussies’ playing XI
Baggy Greens had all reasons to smile until they kept their step in India. Though they are trying to rectify their previous mistakes by shuffling the playing XI. Cameron Green and Mitchell Starc may join the team from tomorrow’s test match. The team can already feel the tension by Cummins, opener David Warner, and fast bowler Josh Hazlewood’s absence due to personal reasons and injury concerns.
Steve Smith acknowledged India as one of the hardest places to play. He said, “India is one of the hardest places to start your innings. So, once you are in, you must make it count. Delhi was a tough place to employ the sweep.”
Is India going with gill or Rahul?
However, India is also battling with a situation of whom they should let play with skipper Rohit Sharma. The question is if KL Rahul should play the third test or not, or they should go back to 2023’s safe zone and trust keeper, Shubman Gill. The 23-year-old opener has proved himself by making more than one double-century and helping India to win matches single-handedly this year.
The Indian captain has kept himself mum on this topic. He responded that both Rahul and Gill get training this way before every game. “When we talk about players going through a tough phase, anyone with potential will be given enough time to prove themselves. Rahul’s removal from vice-captaincy doesn’t indicate anything. Both Gill and Rahul train this way before every game. I have not finalized the eleven yet; want to do it at the toss because last-minute injuries happen,” he said.
India has one positive point as of now because Ravichandran Ashwin’s bowling record in Indore is quite impressive. And it may lead the visitors to feel uncomfortable. Not only Indore, but he has also proved himself as one of the great pillars of India with his 18 wickets in his two Tests.
