ASIA CUP TO BE HELD FROM SEPTEMBER.

ASIA CUP TO BE HELD going to be conduct from September. Asian Cricket Council Chairman Jay Shah announced that Asia Cup is going to be conduct in the month of September while announcing the Asian Cricket Calendar for seasons 2023 and 2024 respectively. Asia Cup 2023 conduct in ODI format as the ICC WC 2023 is 50 overs World Cup going to be conduct in India. [India has the hosting rights]. Asia Cup plays between 6 teams :- India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and qualifier through the method and procedure Asia Cup Qualifiers.

Asia Cup in past played in a round robin format and from the last year ACC has changed the format from Round Robin to League Group Format in which 3 teams combined in 2 groups and play with each other then the top 4 teams qualify for playing [super 4 round] in which each team will play 1 game like:- Semi Final and 2 teams will play the final of Asia Cup. So, this is the fresh and new format introduced in 2022 Asia Cup tournament by Asian Cricket Council. So, this is the format and current edition of Asia Cup 2023. [ODI format].

HISTORY AND PAST WINNERS OF ASIA CUP.

History of Asia Cup has started with 3 teams are:- India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in 1984 held in Sharjah UAE and India won the Inaugural Asia Cup. In 1986 this event held in Sri Lanka and New Cricketing Nation Bangladesh joined in the fray.

India pulled back due to sour cricketing relations with Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup by defeating Pakistan.

In 1988 Asia Cup held in Bangladesh and for the first time the multi-nation tournament happened and with India won this respective tournament by defeating Sri Lanka. In 1990 India won the Asia Cup and hosted by India also.

Year 1993 this tournament stands cancelled, 1995 Year India retained and won consecutive Asia Cup by defeating Sri Lanka held in Sharjah UAE, Asia Cup 1997 Sri Lanka won this tournament by beating India for second time and hosted by Sri Lanka,

Asia Cup 2000 hosted by Bangladesh and Won by Pakistan for first time after defeating Sri Lanka in Final, in 2004 Asia Cup hosted in Sri Lanka and Won by Sri Lanka for third time after defeating India in Final,

In Asia Cup 2008 held in Pakistan and Won by Sri Lanka for fourth time and second consecutive time because of Ajantha Mendis magical spell defeating India in Final,

Asia Cup 2010 hosted in Sri Lanka and Won by India for fourth time after defeating Sri Lanka the hosts in Final,

In 2012 and 2014 Bangladesh hosts the Asia Cup and Won by Pakistan for second time after defeating Bangladesh in Final, Sri Lanka for fifth consecutive time after defeating Pakistan in Final,

In 2016 this respective tournament for the first time happened T20 format hosted by Bangladesh and Won by India for sixth consecutive time after defeating the hosts Bangladesh in Final, Asia Cup 2018 hosted by UAE and Won by India for seventh consecutive time after defeating Bangladesh in Nail Biting Final comprehensively.

Subsequently, Asia Cup 2022 in T20 format Hosts to Sri Lanka but held in UAE due to political unrest in Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Won this tournament for sixth successive time after defeating Pakistan in a thrilling Final.

WINNERS OF ASIA CUP ARE:- INDIA 7 TIMES, SRI LANKA 6 TIMES AND PAKISTAN 2 TIMES.
