Arshdeep Singh becomes the only Indian player in the latest ICC men’s emerging cricketer of the year nominations. The other players to be nominated are Ibrahim Zadran, Marco Jansen and Finn Allen are the other players to be nominated.
Arshdeep Singh’s performance this season
Arshdeep Singh was in fabulous form this year. He is already an integral part of the Indian bowling attack in white ball cricket. He entered the national team due to his excellent performance in IPL. Since his debut in 2021, he played 21 T20 international matches taking 33 wickets at an economy of 8.17. His excellent bowling during powerplay and slog overs provides strong competition to the opponents.
He recently made his ODI debut against New Zealand where he performed brilliantly. His onslaught against Pakistan in the opening match of the T20 world cup will be remembered for a long time.
Competition is tough
Arshdeep has to compete with Finn Allen and Marco Jansen for clinching the emerging player award. Marco had an excellent year for the Proteas. Having made his test debut in 2021, Marco went on to take 36 wickets and made 229 runs at an average of 22.90. His 9 wickets haul in New Zealand is surely a reason to celebrate for his fans.
Jansen has already played 2 ODI matches and 2 T20 international matches. He has claimed his only T20 wicket against the mighty Indian side.
Finn Allen is currently having an excellent white ball cricket career. He has already scored 411 T20 international runs at an explosive strike rate of 155.09. Also, he has scored 387 ODI runs at an excellent average of 38.70. Allen’s explosive batting helped his team to steal away a match against Pakistan in a tri-series in Bangladesh where he scored 62 runs from 42 balls.
There will be hard competition between Finn Allen, Jansen, and Arshdeep for the emerging player award. Regardless of the winner, 3 of them have earned a lot of fame in such a short period of time.
