The defending Indian Super League champion Mumbai City FC is debuting in AFC Champions League 2022. It’s will be the second ISL team to get placed in the league after FC Goa. In the previous season, the Gaurs debuted in tournaments. The Islanders are placed in Group B in today’s draw with the clubs of UAE (Al Jazira), Saudi Arabia (Al Shabab) and Iraq (Air Force).
Mumbai City, who qualified for the AFC Champions League 2022 by winning the ISL 2020-21 will be competing against heavyweight clubs in Asia. They will be debuting for the tournament in April 2022. The Islanders started their 2021-22 ISL campaign strongly. Also, they are again the top contenders to win and retain their Indian Super League crown.
Currently, Mumbai is standing in the fourth position in the points table. Meanwhile, the team are getting suffered as they can only manage to get 2 points from their last 5 matches. For which Mumbai dropped their place from table topper to fourth place. Due to Covid 19, they’re the last clash with Kerala Blasters was postponed. They will play their next match next Jamshedpur on Friday.
AFC Champions League will be starting from April 7, 2022, to April 27, 2022, as per the revised schedule unannounced by the Asian Football Confederation.
